What is turmeric?

Turmeric, or rather curcumin, is an active ingredient naturally present in turmeric, a herbaceous plant native to India and used for thousands of years for culinary and medicinal purposes. It is this which gives turmeric its characteristic yellow color. Ornithine is a non-proteinogenic amino acid famous in the world of bodybuilding for its many benefits.

The benefits of turmeric

Curcumin may play a significant role in promoting overall health and, surprisingly to some, optimizing athletic performance.

In addition, curcumin helps reduce the risk of blood clots, detoxifies the body, improves muscle recovery, and reduces joint discomfort. This active component of turmeric offers a wide range of health benefits due to its unique biochemical principles. These principles are mainly related to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties, and its ability to influence multiple cell signaling pathways.

Are there any dangers in consuming turmeric?

Studies have come out that have not necessarily cleared turmeric… A report released in October 2019 reveals that, despite its benefits, turmeric could present certain risks when consumed in excess or in an inappropriate form.

These cases involved liver damage linked to a dietary supplement containing turmeric, but also nimesulide, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug known for its liver risks. Such situations reveal the risks associated with the addition of other substances in dietary supplements that can interact in unexpected ways with turmeric.

Additionally, some powders sold as turmeric may be contaminated with other turmeric species, such as Curcuma zedoaria, which is toxic. This reality underscores the importance of vigilance regarding the provenance and purity of turmeric products.

At Nutrimuscle, we have selected a turmeric from Japan, on the island of Okinawa. Unlike turmeric from India, ours is grown in a climate more conducive to its proper development.

Recommended dosage

To maximize your safety, we recommend taking two capsules per day and not exceeding 50 mg of curcumin per day. It is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as diabetics and people on anticoagulant, anticancer and immunosuppressive treatment.

At Nutrimuscle, we are always looking for new formulations to improve our products. In order to obtain the optimal dosage of curcumin, we have added different nutrients. Indeed, being difficult for the body to assimilate, it is recommended to consume it in the form of a food supplement.

In our formula, since curcumin is fat-soluble, it is combined with vegetable oil to improve its absorption.

The other components allow better assimilation of curcumin and have antioxidant benefits
