The organic milk comes from Austrian grazing cows, raised according to strict German-Austrian organic specifications. This milk is microfiltered directly after harvest to make the native organic Nutrimuscle whey.
Unlike most so-called “organic” whey on the market, Nutrimuscle organic native whey does not go through the “cheese” box before being microfiltered. It is the only true organic dairy and bio-active whey available on the European market.
Classic whey are rich in GMP (glycomacropeptides): they contain around 20%. The native organic Nutrimuscle whey does not contain GMP. The presence of GMP in a protein (organic or not) testifies to the denaturations that the amino acids underwent during the making of the cheese.
As their name suggests, GMPs are an agglomeration of sugars (up to 30%) and amino acids (up to 70%). Their aminogram is not very conducive to muscle growth, because they are poor in essential amino acids (and therefore rich in non-essential amino acids, amino acids having no anabolic impact). Being devoid of any GMP, the native organic Nutrimuscle whey therefore has an aminogram more conducive to muscle growth.
Like breast milk, Nutrimuscle organic native whey is naturally rich in alpha-lactalbumin. A 10% improvement in nitrogen retention (reflecting better muscle protein synthesis) is noted between a whey rich in alpha-lactalbumin low in GMP and a classic whey rich in GMP and beta-lactalbumin (3) . It was once thought that the benefit of GMPs was to reduce appetite thanks to their stimulating effect on appetite suppressant hormones. Unfortunately, this is not the case, which means that GMPs have no interest, neither for muscle gain nor for fat loss (4-5). They therefore constitute an unnecessary dead weight for the athlete. This is why the native organic Nutrimuscle whey is GMP-free with organic milk filtration without going through the cheese box.
No chemical or genetic manipulation
A simple chemical manipulation (known as “instantaneousization”) transforms poor quality, completely insoluble proteins into proteins that melt in water. At Nutrimuscle, we prefer to use quality proteins in order to avoid chemical processes. Nutrimuscle organic native whey is “non-instant”. Therefore, it does not contain transgenic soy lecithin (GMO) or carboxymethylcellulose and has not undergone ionizing radiation treatments.
Why is a lot of protein processed by calf rennet?
This manipulation occurs during the manufacture of the cheese. Rennet is essential for altering the molecular structure of milk proteins so that they become cheese. Technically, rennet is said to be used to flocculate the casein part of milk. The whey sellers then recover the waste that results from this chemical manipulation: the cheese whey derived from milk. The latter is therefore contaminated by calf rennet while its amino acids have been degraded during the reaction of transformation of milk into cheese.
At Nutrimuscle, we only use noble material for our whey and organic whey. They come directly from milk and not from cheese waste. Thus, the native organic Nutrimuscle whey is therefore not treated with calf abomasum rennet. The integrity and the quality of the amino acids are therefore not altered and no animal residue foreign to the milk is present. Nutrimuscle organic native whey is therefore a protein that is ideal for vegetarians who want to supplement with organic whey.
