The milk proteins that make up Night Recovery Protein Blend, also known as micellar proteins, represent a tremendous technical advance in the protein family as a replacement for "casein". If we look back at the history of high protein supplements, we can see that there has been a steady increase in their biological quality.
The first marketed proteins appeared in the 1940s. At that time they contained soya. Soy was not very digestible and was replaced 10 years later by calcium caseinate (commonly known as casein, but due to its artificial aggregation with calcium, it was not very digestible). It was not until the 1990s that whey became popular. It was of much higher quality than "casein" and quickly replaced the latter, which almost disappeared. Nowadays, total milk protein is the obvious choice because of its digestive qualities and its perfect complementarity with whey.
No chemical or genetic manipulation
A simple chemical manipulation (known as "instantaneousisation") makes it possible to transform poor quality, completely insoluble proteins into proteins that melt in water. At Nutrimuscle, we prefer to use quality proteins to avoid chemical processes. Nutrimuscle total milk proteins are "non-instant". Therefore, they do not contain transgenic soy lecithin (GMO) or carboxymethylcellulose, and have not been treated with ionising radiation.
Why are many proteins treated with veal rennet?
This is done during the cheese making process. Rennet is necessary to alter the molecular structure of the milk proteins so that they become cheese. Technically, it is said that rennet is used to flocculate the casein part of the milk. The casein is therefore contaminated by the calf rennet as its amino acids have been degraded during the reaction of transforming the milk into cheese.
At Nutrimuscle, we only use noble matter for our total proteins. They are obtained directly from the milk by cold ultrafiltration. Thus, Nutrimuscle total milk proteins are not treated with rennet from calf rennet. The integrity and quality of the amino acids are therefore not altered, and no animal residues foreign to the milk are present. Nutrimuscle total milk protein is therefore ideal for vegetarians who wish to supplement their protein intake.
